Safety Issues on Bob Bown Playing Field
You may remember that last year we were forced to remove an item of equipment from the play area due to inappropriate and dangerous use, with rope and other such items being tied to it. Since its removal the situation had improved sufficiently that we were considering its reinstatement. However, it is with regret that this month our councillors found yet more blue nylon rope tied to equipment on the field- presumably from the same source as before….. This has now been removed as it is an entanglement hazard.
It is totally unacceptable that the safety of our equipment is compromised in this manner. The equipment is inspected weekly which, when used normally, is sufficient. However, we do not have the resources to keep checking that no-one has been irresponsible enough to endanger others by attaching these ropes etc. Please, if anyone sees such occurrences let our Parish Clerk know as soon as possible so that the danger can be addressed. If you know who may be responsible for this rope we should also like to know so that measures can be taken to stop this happening.
Everyone's children should have the right to play on this facility in a safe environment, no-one should have the right to compromise their safety.
