update from the Police

Overnight from the 5th to the 6th, a burglary took place in Quorn where a silver Porsche 911 was stolen. The vehicle is believed to have been taken out of County.

We would like to advise residents to ensure that they hide car keys within their homes (especially if the vehicle is of high value). Nowadays most vehicles are stolen using keys and criminals have a good idea of where people leave their keys in the house so we would recommend finding somewhere less obvious to place them.

Additionally, with many modern vehicles having keyless entry and start, some criminals have the technology to scan and copy car keys inside a house. Some makes and models are more susceptible to this than others. Small, relatively inexpensive, pouches that prevent this from happening are readily available to put keys in. Obviously the police wouldn't endorse any particular make or supplier, but this is an example of what is available - https://www.halfords.com/motoring/car-security/car-security/halfords-anti-rfid-theft-key-wallet.
