There have been a recent rise in Burglaries across the villages in particular in Swithland, Quorn, Rothley, and Cropston however there have been a couple in Cropston, Woodhouse and Woodhouse Eaves.
Due to this I have raised it has a problem profile on our system and have created a briefing sheet for the whole of Charnwood NPA including the response officers. I have requested the utilisation of our force burglary patrol resources as well as the use of Special Constables and the beat team have a burglary operation pending.
The PCSO's have been tasked to conduct reassurance patrols and issue crime prevention advise however could I please ask that residents remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity via the 101 or 999 in the event of an emergency.
Please send a message out to residents to ensure they secure their property and not to leave any items on display in windows; if they are due to go away on holiday please consider utilising timed lights and asking a friend/neighbour to visit regularly to open/shut curtains. Also not to leave vehicle/house keys on display and hideaway any valuables/cash etc.
It is always a good idea to have CCTV installed as this is one of the best deterrents especially if it is clearly visible and advertised however this is only good if there is sufficient lighting/motion sensors etc otherwise the picture is usually too poor quality to obtain an identification.
I will update you again shortly, hopefully with some good news pending the outcome of our burglary operation.
